Meet Shelby Miller ~
Shelby and Pippi first entered the ring in July 2004 at
the Willamette Valley Basenji Club's specialty and
walked out of the ring with First Place in Sweepstakes
in the 6-9 month old class! The duo quickly worked
their way up in the Juniors ring to the Open class
having won three first place awards within 3 months in
the Novice class.
Since then, Shelby has trained under the watchful eye
of seasoned handler and Best in Show judge Chuck
Murray. Chuck's no nonsense style has earned him
quite the reputation around town and his classes are
always packed with eager new students. Obviously
his technique works for Shelby and her dogs as this
Open Intermediate Junior Handler is holding her own
in the breed ring too! She finished her very first show
dog (Pippi) in a mere thirteen months of showing
finishing with 3 big majors! Way to go Shelby!
In January 2007, Shelby handled T.K. to finish his
championship title as well with another 3 majors!
This brindle boy is a beauty... watch for them in the
Specials ring. Our youngest Basenji, Twist, recently
made her ring debut with Shelby too... we're keeping
this girl busy around the ring!
Learning various tips and tricks from more
experienced handlers is helping Shelby to become the
best handler she can be. Should you find yourself
short a handler on show day, Shelby would be more
than happy to take your dog in the ring for you. Any ring
experience is good ring experience! Need some
help? Let us know!
